Kretschmer Remains Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee

Saxony’s Minister President Kretschmer has once again been elected chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Bundesrat, according to a statement from the Saxon State Chancellery. He has chaired this Bundesrat committee since February 2018. The committee is responsible for maintaining relations with other countries. However, there is a separate committee for European policy, according to the State Chancellery.

In the Bundesrat, the chairs of the specialized committees are elected every October. Traditionally, each federal state assumes the chairmanship of one of the 16 specialized committees, the State Chancellery stated.
