With special exhibitions and a reopening, the Leipzig City History Museum attracted more visitors than ever before. What is planned for 2026.

The Leipzig City History Museum counted more visitors last year than ever before. A total of 603,082 visitors came to the various buildings and exhibition venues, 60,000 more than in 2024, which was also a successful year, the museum announced.

Special exhibitions on the Sandman and the 1990s in Leipzig contributed to the record number of visitors. The Museum Zum Arabischen Coffe Baum, which reopened on July 1, attracted almost 30,000 visitors straight away.

"Exhibitions relevant to the public" are also expected to attract many visitors in 2026. Plans include a show on 800 years of Leipzig's water history entitled "A City on the River". There will also be an insight into the archive of the Jewish photographer Abram Mittelmann, which was discovered in an attic in 1988.
