Far from finished at over 80: pop singer Chris Doerk is back with new music - and talks about a health drama in her family for the first time.

At the age of 84 and 14 years after her last album, GDR cult star Chris Doerk has released new music. The title of her new record, "Schenk jeden Tag ein Lachen" (Give every day a laugh), stands for her life motto, said the pop singer in an interview with the magazine "SuperIllu". "Every situation contains comedy, you just have to look for it. I always find it!"

Doerk became famous at the end of the 1960s alongside her then husband Frank Schöbel - they were successful together in the DEFA musical comedy "Heißer Sommer" in 1968. They divorced in 1974.

For the first time, Doerk also spoke about a serious health crisis affecting her long-term partner. After an operation in 2024, a stitch burst and life-threatening sepsis developed as a result. However, her partner came through it well, the singer said, for which she was "infinitely grateful".
