Next year, Plauen will host Saxony Day. Preparations are already underway.

The city of Plauen is gearing up for Saxony Day next year. The state festival will then merge with the city’s lace festival and, unlike usual, will be celebrated not in September but from June 18 to 20. The theme is “Celebrating SPITZE Together.” This proposal received the most support in a vote.

According to the organizers, “SPITZE” stands not only for Plauen’s traditional lace but also for a festival that brings people together and allows Saxons to celebrate as one.

Plauen previously hosted the folk festival in 1997. At that time, it attracted around 380,000 visitors. Since then, due to the significant effort involved, it has only been held every two years in a different city. Most recently, Sebnitz hosted the event.

Plauen promises “three unforgettable days”

In 2027, Saxony Day will mark its 31st edition. The Plauen city center is set to be transformed into a festival district. The main stage locations will be the Altmarkt, Neustadtplatz, Theaterplatz, and the Elsteraue. There will also be numerous smaller stages.

The focus will be on Saxony’s diverse community life. “I am confident that we will experience three unforgettable days in our wonderful city,” said Mayor Steffen Zenner (CDU).
