A 73-year-old man was seriously injured when a tiger escaped from a private enclosure in Schkeuditz near Leipzig. He had been in the enclosure when the animal escaped, a police spokeswoman reported. It was a helper of sorts who was "legitimately" in the enclosure. The man was taken to hospital for treatment.
According to the police, the tiger escaped at around 1.00 pm. The police arrived with numerous forces and finally encountered the animal in the area of a nearby garden. The tiger had been shot there by emergency services.
