"Gerhart," the Found Turtle, Spends the Night at the Police Station

Police officers at a station in Zittau took care of an unusual guest overnight: a turtle. Passersby had found the animal on Sunday on Gerhart-Hauptmann-Straße and turned it in to the police, the police reported. The officers were able to arrange a spot for the turtle at the Zittau Zoo—but not until Monday. As a result, the foundling—whom the police named “Gerhart” after the location where it was found—spent the night “in the care of the officer on duty, with water and a small snack.”
