"Frieda - Mit Feuer und Flamme" is set in Saxony. What the new series is about and when it starts.

The private broadcaster Sat.1 has scheduled the start of its new early evening series "Frieda - Mit Feuer und Flamme", set in Saxony and starring Laura Lippmann. The production from Saxonia Media can be seen in double episodes from June 1 at 6 p.m.

The streaming service Joyn will start a few days earlier: The first ten episodes will be available there from May 29. A total of 162 episodes were produced.

Difficult broadcasting slot

The series will take over a difficult broadcasting slot: The current Sat.1 soap "Ein Hof zum Verlieben" does not have particularly good ratings.

The series revolves around a nurse who fights against the closure of the local volunteer fire department in her home in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. She also has to balance her newly rekindled feelings for the charming firefighter Mirko (Sebastian Deyle) with her old flame in the village, Mayor Felix (Christopher Kohn).

Shooting for "Frieda" began back in September 2024, so a comparatively long time has passed since the series was first broadcast.

Frieda, a single intensive care nurse, returns to idyllic Liebitz in Saxon Switzerland with her 18-year-old daughter Pippa (Natascha Weitzendorf). Her ex-partner and Pippa's father, Mayor Felix, is planning to close down the local fire department. As the daughter of the former head of the fire brigade, Otto (Andreas Borcherding), Frieda is not prepared to accept this. She also develops feelings for the fireman Mirko. Should she give him a chance or will her old love for Felix flare up again?
