An attempt to set a world record for dancing in Chemnitz has failed. The goal was to recruit at least 1,800 people for the world’s largest ballet class. However, only slightly more than 730 people showed up, as Theresa Schultz, a spokeswoman for the Chemnitz Theater, said when asked. Although the weather cooperated, the city of Chemnitz simply offers many alternatives on a Saturday. Thus, the record remains in Queensland, Australia. The people who turned up at the Karl Marx Monument out of curiosity, dressed in sportswear and everyday clothes, enjoyed a 60-minute ballet class. “We performed simple beginner-level ballet exercises. After all, it was all about having fun,” Schultz emphasized. The entire age range was represented, from small children to seniors.
