The ZDF crime series “SOKO Leipzig” is kicking off its upcoming 27th season with a new face. For the first time, Simon Böer will take on the role of Inspector Dirk Trebbe, investigating alongside Melanie Marschke, Amy Mußul, and Johannes Hendrik Langer, as announced by UFA Mitte. The season premieres on October 2. The new season tackles criminal cases involving highly topical social issues such as bullying, homelessness, caring for family members, and the desire to have children. At the same time, the series focuses on digital threats and modern forms of crime. The investigations lead into extraordinary worlds, ranging from intelligence agencies and illegal street races to drug smuggling. In the first episode, “Das Auge,” police officer Jana Zschocke reportedly confesses to killing a man. But a suspect has already been arrested for the murder of the leader of a criminal biker gang, and that suspect is now under witness protection. Which of the two is faking a murder, and why? Meanwhile, the new detective’s first day turns out very differently than he and his colleagues had imagined. It’s almost too late when they realize that an uninvited guest—Jana Zschocke—has infiltrated the police station. And she already has her sights set on her target. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de).
