Even after more than 30 years, Keimzeit singer Norbert Leisegang still enjoys the band's most successful song "Kling Klang". He has no problem with the fact that the band is primarily associated with "Kling Klang", the 65-year-old said in a dpa interview. The musicians played the song at almost every concert.
"But I don't see us reduced to "Kling Klang"," said Leisegang. Keimzeit are currently releasing their 14th album "Ach, die Menschen". It was presented at a record release event in Leipzig on Tuesday evening. The band will play around 40 concerts this year.
He couldn't explain the success of "Kling Klang", said Leisegang. "Maybe it was the feeling back then." With lines like: "Just get away from here, as far as possible", the Brandenburgers obviously struck a chord with a whole generation in 1993, especially in the east of the republic.
"I didn't really give much thought to the lyrics, by the way. It had to sound somehow, it had to be singable," said Keimzeit. The fact that a song goes down particularly well with people is "a magic, a mystery".
