The Grassi Museum of Applied Arts once again attracted numerous visitors in 2025. The workshops remain particularly popular.

With around 97,000 visitors, the Grassi Museum in Leipzig only just missed out on a new visitor record in 2025. Only the anniversary year 2024 recorded more visitors thanks to special events, the museum announced. More than 109,000 visitors were counted in 2024, the 150th anniversary of the museum.

The museum is also planning numerous events this year. Whether it's an exhibition on applied art in Latin America or on the table culture of pasta and design: art lovers will also get their money's worth in 2026. In addition to an insight into the production process, the special exhibition "Al dente" will also take a look at the design of pasta. Posters and posters in particular will be on display from November.

Grassimesse remains particularly popular

The Grassimesse was one of the biggest successes this year. With an increase of around 20 percent compared to the previous year, 8,680 guests visited the fair. Around 140 artists and designers from Europe, Asia and Africa exhibited their work.

The workshops offered by the Museum of Applied Arts were particularly popular. Interested parties can discover their artistic side with various materials. But if you want to take part, you have to be quick: The courses are advertised about a month in advance and are fully booked within two to three hours.

In 2025 alone, the museum acquired 2,911 new art objects. The absolute majority of these came from donations from Germany and around the world, explained director Olaf Thormann.
