The Lusatia Festival has drawn a positive summary of its fourth edition. With six premieres and one world premiere, it has asserted itself as an important contributor to the cultural life of the region, linking 25 venues in 13 locations and 400 artists throughout Lusatia, the festival announced Tuesday. Ten events were fully booked, the overall occupancy rate was 80 percent, it said.

"It is great to see how the idea has become a reality to establish a unique art festival of international appeal in Lusatia, which has developed into a common will of the festival and the people in the region, to whom it offers a change of perspective on their own history, situation and future through art," said artistic director Daniel Kühnel.

Among the guests of the Lusatia Festival were renowned artists, including pianist Martha Argerich, actress Claudia Michelsen and violinist Maxim Vengerov. According to the festival management, visitors also came from abroad. The fifth edition of the Lusatia Festival as a cross-disciplinary cultural event will begin on August 25, 2024.
