Claudius Dreilich, singer of the rock band Karat, is privately a fan of very different styles of music. "I like classical music as well as punk," the 54-year-old told the German press agency dpa. He likes to play records at home. "I also go to a lot of concerts. That always takes me a bit further," said the singer. He is often in the audience at performances by punk bands.
The band Karat, which was founded in the GDR, will be 50 years old on February 22. Dreilich has been with the band for 20 years - as the successor to his father Herbert, who died of cancer in 2004. The Berliners' greatest hits include the rock ballads "Der blaue Planet" and "Über sieben Brücken musst du gehn".
A new album will be released to mark the band's anniversary, and a long tour will also begin on February 22. And how does the singer recover from the stress of touring? "I go for walks a lot, rest a lot, read a lot, listen to radio plays and podcasts."
