The director of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), Ralf Ludwig, has reacted sadly to the death of actor Peter Sodann. "The news of Peter Sodann's death makes us very sad," said Ludwig on Sunday. The actor had achieved great popularity primarily through his role as Commissioner Bruno Ehrlicher in the MDR crime scenes from Dresden and Leipzig.

"MDR owes a great deal to Mr. Sodann as a crime scene commissioner from the very beginning," explained the director. Sodann played the detective Ehrlicher from 1992 to 2007. The actor died on Friday at the age of 87 in Halle an der Saale.
