In the hospital series "In aller Freundschaft", actress Annett Renneberg (48) has to say goodbye. After nine years, Prof. Maria Weber, who she portrayed, dies in the series. The episode "Can Miracles Happen?" will be broadcast on ARD this Tuesday (9 p.m.). Renneberg says that she was surprised by the end for her character. "You should always expect that this can happen - the contracts run for one season at a time. I was surprised that the decision was made for my character - I thought that with a small child and my popularity, I was relatively safe as far as that was concerned," explained the actress. In the meantime, however, she has made peace with the end of "In aller Freundschaft": "Life has surprises in store, and as I never intended to stay with this format for so long, I felt it was a twist of fate that it was time for something new. And this feeling has been totally coherent and right ever since." Among other things, she is working on a book and will start a podcast in April, the actress explained. She also wants to "thoroughly clean out all the rooms in my house. Plus my yard with garden and animals, my sons, the music. I'm never bored," said Renneberg. The actress was born in Thuringia and grew up in Berlin. She lives with her family in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved"A twist of fate"
