Techno fans regularly meet up to party in the Königsbrücker Heide. There are complaints about noise. Just last weekend, the police broke up two parties there - and found a body nearby.

According to the police, there is regular trouble with techno parties in the Königsbrücker Heide. In the forest north-east of Dresden, where a young woman was killed last Sunday, young people have been regularly partying at night with loud music for years. Last Sunday morning, police broke up two such events there with a total of 200 young people - they then discovered the body of a 21-year-old woman not far away.

After the death of the young woman, who had stab wounds, police officers arrested a suspected teenager nearby. The homicide squad is investigating manslaughter - and is also looking into a connection to the parties.

A spokeswoman for the Görlitz police department said that the Königsbrücker Heide between Laußnitz and Ottendorf-Okrilla usually becomes a party location at weekends in spring and summer. Until now, this had only been a nuisance for residents of neighboring settlements.

The events are generally not registered; they only become known through tips or reports from residents. Due to the vegetation and the topography of the terrain, the meetings are sometimes difficult to find. "Such techno parties cannot be prevented from the outset," said the police spokeswoman.

Partygoers come by car and mostly from the surrounding area

According to the Kamenz police station, the partygoers travel to the forest parties by car and mainly from Dresden and the surrounding districts. They range from a handful of people to hundreds, and the equipment at the events varies from "very spartan" with small music systems to mobile professional sets. Residents repeatedly complained about disturbances, but there were no statistics on the number of incidents.

Locating the source of the noise is difficult, especially in the dark in the large wooded areas, said the police spokeswoman. If they succeed, the people causing the noise are asked to reduce the volume. Officers also broke up events, issued bans and reports for administrative offenses.
