A new barrier-free campsite is to be built on Lake Störmthal in Großpösna. The Saxon State Ministry for Regional Development is funding the project with more than 33.7 million euros. This is according to a press release issued by the ministry on Friday. The inclusive campsite in the district of Leipzig is to become both a vacation destination and an employer for people with disabilities.

A farmland directly on Lake Störmthal in the Grunaer Weg area in Großpösna is reportedly available for the project. The entire area is 420,000 square meters in size and offers space for 185 pitches for campers, caravans and tents in addition to barrier-free tiny houses. There are also play and adventure areas, a supervised beach area with catering facilities, areas for educational activities with animals and a facility for integration assistance. The owner and project sponsor of the construction project is the City of Leipzig's own municipal company for the disabled (SEB), which, according to the ministry, will have the campsite operated by a non-profit inclusion company in the future as part of a public tender. The project is one of eight tourism infrastructure projects in the Central German mining region that will be funded by the Coal Regions Investment Act.
