The historic cable car to Augustusburg Castle is taking a three-week break from Monday to carry out important maintenance work.

The historic cable car to Augustusburg will be taking a three-week break from Monday (March 4). The reason is pending maintenance, as the Central Saxony Transport Association announced on Thursday. Part of the 252 rollers over which the cable runs will be replaced. A TÜV inspection is also due and some of the wooden sleepers will be replaced with plastic sleepers. A new heating system will also be installed in the valley station. The cable car will then reopen to passengers from 23 March.

The cable car is more than 100 years old and covers a distance of 1.2 kilometers with a gradient of up to 20 percent. It is an attraction for tourists in particular.
