33.7 million euros for an inclusive campground by the lake

An inclusive campground is being built at Lake Störmthal near Leipzig. The campground will complement the existing tourist attractions at Lake Störmthal by offering accessible camping and recreational facilities for people with and without disabilities, as the Ministry of Infrastructure announced at the start of construction.

According to the plans, the 42-hectare site will feature, among other things, tent sites, accessible vacation homes, RV sites, dining options, an adventure playground, and a beach area. In addition, there will be animal-assisted learning areas and residential groups for children and adolescents at a facility providing integration support. According to current plans, construction is expected to last until the end of 2028.

The federal government and the Free State of Saxony are supporting the “Gemeinsam am See” urban-rural project with 33.7 million euros in funding from the Coal Regions Investment Act and supplementary state funds.
