Sächsische Dampfschifffahrt celebrated its 190th anniversary with a weekend of festivities in Dresden. According to a press release, the “White Fleet” drew thousands of visitors during its three-day program. The hourly city cruises were reportedly almost always filled to capacity.
The glamour of the Roaring Twenties and open-deck ships attract visitors
The festivities kicked off on Friday evening with a party ship in the style of the Roaring Twenties. On Saturday, the “Open Ship” evening gave guests the opportunity to experience the atmosphere aboard the steamboats and saloon ships. As part of the partner presentations, the Water Police, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), and the German Life Saving Association (DLRG) showcased their work. Family-friendly activities and insights into the history and present of Sächsische Dampfschifffahrt rounded out the program.
“The tremendous response shows just how important Sächsische Dampfschifffahrt is to Dresden, the region, and its guests,” said Managing Director Stefan Bloch. “We are delighted by the many visitors who
celebrated this anniversary with us.”
