There is damage to the 20-year-old carriageway: construction work will therefore begin between Hohenstein-Ernstthal and Glauchau-West in April. What this means for drivers.

Drivers will have to be prepared for obstructions on the Autobahn 4 between Hohenstein-Ernstthal and Glauchau-West over the next few months. From April to December 2026, the roadway in the direction of Erfurt between the two junctions will be renewed using concrete construction, according to the federal government's Autobahn GmbH.

The reason for this is extensive damage to the 20-year-old carriageway. The Hohenstein-Ernstthal and Glauchau-Ost junctions are also to be renovated in this context. The renovation of 13 bridge structures is also planned, as well as the renewal of the crash barriers on the route and the drainage. The total costs amount to around 38 million euros.
