A Döllnitzbahn locomotive derailed after colliding with a truck at a railroad crossing in Oschatz. According to the Leipzig police, a 63-year-old truck driver ran a stop sign at a railroad crossing on Tuesday afternoon because, as he claimed, he had been stung by a bee.
The approaching narrow-gauge train was unable to brake in time, and the locomotive derailed upon impact. No one was injured. Police estimate the damage to be in the six-figure range. The train’s cars were towed away from the accident scene by a replacement locomotive. Ambrosius-Marthaus-Straße was temporarily closed during the recovery operations.
