The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important for companies in Saxony. Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Labor, Dirk Panter, emphasized that the introduction of AI in Saxon businesses is no longer just an option, but a necessity. “Those who take advantage of the opportunities offered by AI will achieve significant gains in efficiency. Those who ignore it risk losing their competitive edge,” explained the SPD politician. More than one in four companies in Saxony uses AI, and another 8 percent plan to adopt it, according to the results of an employer survey conducted by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB). Companies that had not yet switched to using AI cited a lack of practical applications as the main reason. The IAB Establishment Panel provides annual representative findings on the labor market from the perspective of businesses. In the second half of 2025, approximately 15,800 companies nationwide with at least one employee subject to social insurance contributions were surveyed, including about 1,200 companies from Saxony.
