The narrow-gauge railroads around Dresden will be running again from Sunday after maintenance. What will change for passengers on the Lößnitzgrundbahn and Weißeritztalbahn.

After maintenance work, the narrow-gauge railroads in the Dresden region are back on track. The regular timetable for the Weißeritztalbahn and the Lößnitzgrundbahn will apply from December 14, as announced by the Sächsische Dampfeisenbahngesellschaft mbH.

The Weißeritztalbahn runs several times a day between Freital-Hainsberg and the spa town of Kipsdorf and went into operation in 1882. It is considered Germany's longest-serving narrow-gauge railroad. The Lößnitzgrundbahn connects Radebeul and Radeburg several times a day and started running in 1884. Both railroads are considered a tourist attraction, but are also used by locals for local transport.

However, the narrow-gauge railroads will not really get going again until March 2026, when the summer season begins. According to SDG, late trains on the Lößnitzgrundbahn and Weißeritztalbahn will also be running again then.
