From Monday, construction work on two regional train lines in Saxony will result in train cancellations and changed travel times. What commuters need to be aware of now.

Passengers on the regional train lines between Leipzig, Grimma, Döbeln, Geithain and Chemnitz must be prepared for considerable restrictions in the coming week. According to Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn, two trains will be canceled due to construction work on the infrastructure and buses will run instead. In addition, numerous departure and arrival times will change.

The Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn lines RB110 (Leipzig-Grimma-Döbeln) and RE6 (Leipzig-Geithain-Chemnitz) are affected. The measures will apply from Monday (January 12) until the following Sunday (January 18).

RB110 line: Leipzig - Grimma - Döbeln

Trains will be replaced by buses between Leipzig Central Station and Borsdorf (Sachs). The buses will serve all intermediate stops. Trains will continue to run on the remaining section towards Grimma and Döbeln, but with altered journey times. Commuters can expect longer journey times and missed connections.

Route RE6: Leipzig - Geithain - Chemnitz

Replacement buses will run on this route between Leipzig main station and Geithain. The Bad Lausick stop will only be served by bus during the construction work. The following also applies here: The entire route to Chemnitz is affected by changed travel times.

Bicycle and scooter transport

On the replacement buses, bicycles and e-scooters can only be transported to a limited extent.
