The Greens in the Saxon state parliament have expressed their sympathy to the victims of the suspected rampage in Leipzig and paid tribute to first responders. "We would like to thank all the people who provided help on the scene for their selfless efforts in caring for the injured and looking after eyewitnesses," said parliamentary group leader Franziska Schubert and interior politician Valentin Lippmann in the evening.
"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the terrible news from Leipzig. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims. We wish all those injured and affected by this terrible attack a speedy recovery and strength in coming to terms with this terrible event," it said in a statement. We hope that the police and the public prosecutor's office will quickly succeed in fully clarifying the background to the crime.
