The CDU in the Saxon state parliament is concerned about the planned job cuts at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports and believes the federal government has a duty to act. Kai Ritter, economic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, explained that the federal government must bring air traffic charges into line with those of its European competitors. Above all in comparison to neighboring countries such as the Czech Republic, cost structures must be adjusted and fair framework conditions created so that local freight and passenger traffic remains economical.
CDU: Airports also important for business settlements
According to CDU politician Ritter, the future viability of Saxony's airports is crucial for regional and national trade, tourism and the establishment of new companies. "The ongoing pressure to renovate, rising operating costs and investment backlog are jeopardizing the locations. Targeted measures are needed to enable growth and ensure social cushioning."
