Problems with the starter battery or the engine: last year, the ADAC in Saxony was called out to more than 110,000 breakdown services. That is around 3,000 more than in 2024, according to the ADAC. The most common cause was defective car batteries (45.4 percent). In 21.8 percent of all breakdowns, the engine or engine management system had failed.
The month with the most breakdowns in Bavaria was August, while the day with the most emergency breakdown calls was February 17, 2025. In over 70 percent of all emergencies, the Yellow Angels were able to help within an hour, according to the report. The number of bicycle breakdowns also increased significantly in the previous year. In almost three quarters (72 percent) of all 550 bicycle breakdowns in Bavaria, a defective tire was the reason for the call-out.
"With the increasing number and age of electric cars, the number of e-car breakdowns is also rising," it said. Across Germany, 50,445 breakdowns were caused by purely electric cars - an increase of around 15 percent compared to 2024.
