"WaPo Elbe": New Season Kicks Off with a Jeweler's Murder

Jewelry store robbers who dump their loot into the Elbe River while on the run, sabotage of a police vehicle, and a defiant magnet fisherman: This is how the early-evening crime series “WaPo Elbe” kicks off its new season. The first of eight episodes, “An der Magnetangel,” airs Tuesday at 6:50 p.m. on ARD. 

Third season with eight new episodes

The team led by Police Station Chief Maike Junghans (played by Carina Wiese) and Chief Inspector Sami Fares (played by Adnan Maral) investigates eight new cases. In subsequent episodes, the investigators come across, among other things, a body that bears a striking resemblance to Inspector Max Krätschmer (played by Ferdi Özten) and a mysterious message in a bottle containing a cry for help that leads them to a long-hidden crime. 

One case delves into the team’s personal lives: Inspector Jana’s grandmother falls victim to a “grandchild scam.” Then, in connection with the “Tafel Pirna” food bank, a father disappears after an argument with a customer. A drowned captain, the mysterious fall of an actor during a theater premiere, and poisoned wine also keep the four Elbe police officers busy.

Filmed in Saxon Switzerland and the Czech Republic

Alongside Duisburg, Lake Constance, and Berlin, “WaPo Elbe” is the fourth ARD crime series featuring the water police. The new season was filmed last year in Saxon Switzerland, Pirna, and the Czech Republic.
