In the wage dispute at Deutsche Telekom, several hundred employees at the company's sites in Saxony went on strike on Wednesday. According to the trade union Verdi, around 300 strikers took part in a demonstration in Chemnitz. Verdi had called for the all-day warning strike. In Leipzig and Dresden, around 400 strikers gathered at the union buildings, according to a Verdi spokesperson.
In Magdeburg (Saxony-Anhalt), around 190 strikers from several areas, including technology and service as well as Telekom stores, took part in a barbecue in the city park.
Further warning strikes have been announced for Thursday. Deutsche Telekom employees in Thuringia have also been called to strike.
Verdi is demanding, among other things, a pay rise of 6.6 percent over a twelve-month period and a Verdi membership bonus of 660 euros per year. The fourth round of negotiations is scheduled to take place next week (May 26/27, 2026). The warning strikes may lead to delays in customer service, among other things.
