According to a study by the Agora Verkehrswende think tank, the district of Northern Saxony has the worst public transportation connections in Saxony. District Administrator Kai Emanuel has criticized the study.

Kai Emanuel (independent), district administrator of North Saxony, has criticized the recently published transportation atlas by the think tank Agora Verkehrswende. According to the atlas, the district of North Saxony ranks 291st out of 397, placing it last in the Free State. A statement from the district administration says that the use of outdated research methods creates a distorted picture.

“The fact that the study rates every bus lower than the streetcar and completely ignores flexible on-demand bus services completely misses the realities of rural areas,” says District Administrator Emanuel. Local public transportation in the district is better than portrayed in the study and also transports 8,000 boys and girls to school every day.
