Real Estate Up for Auction - Erlweinturm at the Next Auction

A forestry school, a church, and the former House of German-Soviet Friendship (DSF) were put up for auction and sold. A bidder paid 130,000 euros for the former forestry school in Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz (Vogtland District), the birthplace of Germany’s first astronaut, Sigmund Jähn, according to Sächsische Grundstücksauktionen AG. The DSF in Zwickau was sold for 30,000 euros.

A bidder paid even more for a church building in Oranienbaum-Wörlitz (Saxony-Anhalt). For 150,000 euros, the bidder was awarded the listed church with its connecting building and tower, as well as a residential house with a terrace and garage. In total, 107 properties with a combined value of approximately 5.8 million euros were sold at the fall auctions in Dresden and Leipzig, according to Sächsische Grundstücksauktionen AG.

Famous Erlwein Tower to Be Auctioned

A particularly unusual and famous building will be auctioned off at the winter auctions taking place from November 25 to November 27, 2026, in Dresden and Leipzig. It is the historic Erlwein Tower in Dresden. Built around 1906, the tower is an icon of Art Nouveau and is closely associated with its namesake, the famous city architect Hans Erlwein. After years of disrepair, the tower has been partially renovated in recent years. According to reports, approximately 4.75 million euros were invested in the building. The minimum bid is 1.5 million euros.
