In connection with the drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport, police searched an abandoned village not far from the airport. A spokeswoman for the Federal Prosecutor General confirmed the operation in Kursdorf. She declined to say what they were looking for, citing investigative tactics.
No one lives in Kursdorf anymore. The village is surrounded by the airport grounds. Only a church and a few houses remain.
Last Tuesday, a drone loaded with explosives was discovered among several Ukrainian cargo planes. Security forces classified the incident as very serious. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the investigation. It is referring to a “serious attack on Germany’s transportation and logistics infrastructure.”
