Starting August 1, local transit passengers in Saxony will have to pay more for tickets in many areas. The transit authorities in Eastern Saxony, the Vogtland region, and the Central German Transit Authority (MDV) have announced fare increases. In the VVO fare zone around Dresden, prices had already been raised by an average of 3.3 percent in April.
In the ZVON fare zone in eastern Saxony, prices are rising by an average of 7.3 percent. According to reports, this will particularly affect day passes for regional transit. In contrast, fares for the Education Ticket, the Senior Ticket, and prices for school groups will remain unchanged. The price of the Germany-wide “Deutschlandticket” will also remain the same.
