Up to 450 new jobs and state-of-the-art logistics for Germany and Switzerland: What Beiersdorf is currently building in Leipzig.

Cosmetics manufacturer Beiersdorf plans to begin operations at its new logistics center in Leipzig in the summer of 2027. Construction, which has been underway for two years, is on schedule, said project manager Björn Schwarz. The center will replace a facility in Hamburg. Up to 450 jobs are expected to be created in Leipzig over the next few years.

The logistics center will serve customers in Germany and Switzerland—two of the Beiersdorf Group’s most important markets. Customers include bulk buyers such as drugstore chains, as well as small pharmacies that order only a few packages, Schwarz explained. The goods will be picked, packed, and shipped from Leipzig.

Nivea deodorants come from Leipzig

The logistics center is being built in the immediate vicinity of the Leipzig plant, which has been in operation since 2023. Beiersdorf manufactures its deodorant sprays there—including those under the Nivea brand. To date, more than 900 million aerosol spray cans have rolled off the production line. The one-billion mark is expected to be reached in early August. According to Beiersdorf, Leipzig is the company’s most modern plant. About 280 people are employed there.

Beiersdorf had abandoned its long-established site in Waldheim, Central Saxony—where the Florena cream, once widely used in the GDR, was formerly manufactured—in favor of the new Leipzig plant. Florena has been part of Beiersdorf since 2002. Florena cream is now produced in Poznan, Poland.
