A 21-year-old driver was killed in an accident in the Saxon Switzerland-Osterzgebirge district. According to the Dresden Police Department, he veered off the road on Saturday afternoon on the highway between Hellendorf and Bad Gottleuba. The car first struck the guardrail and then a tree. The man died at the scene of the accident, authorities said. A 14-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The road remained closed for six hours due to recovery efforts.
