A 56-year-old cyclist was killed in an accident involving a tractor in the Vogtland district. According to police, the woman was struck by the tractor’s trailer while attempting to pass and sustained fatal injuries.
The accident occurred on Friday evening in the Waldkirchen district of Lengenfeld. The 56-year-old was riding with three other cyclists. The group was riding in single file on the road.
According to reports, the 42-year-old tractor driver began to pass. After he had passed the first two cyclists, the trailer of his tractor struck the 56-year-old woman riding behind them. She fell and was run over by one of the trailer’s tires. The woman sustained fatal injuries.
The road remained closed for about five hours while the accident was being investigated. The exact circumstances of the accident are now being investigated by the traffic accident investigation unit in cooperation with the public prosecutor’s office and an expert.
