From LAN parties to scent gaming: what's possible at the Caggtus Festival in Leipzig this year - and why even the sense of smell comes into play.

Thousands of fans are being drawn to the Caggtus gaming festival in Leipzig these days. Until Sunday, gamers can play online and offline at the Leipzig trade fair and find out about technical innovations on around 40,000 square meters, according to the Leipzig trade fair. More than 100 exhibitors and sponsors have registered.

"The Gaming Festival combines an extensive program in the Expo with a record LAN and thus underlines its importance as the most important gaming event in the first half of the year in German-speaking countries," said Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe.

Gamble non-stop for up to 70 hours

More than 2,300 gamers from several countries have already been gaming at the LAN party since Thursday evening. They can theoretically play non-stop for up to 70 hours. There are quiet zones behind each row of seats for breaks in between. "Close interaction with the community is the key to success," explained Constantin Strobel, Project Director of Caggtus Leipzig. "Many participants have been with us since the first edition. At the same time, we attract new players every year."

A special feature will also be presented at the festival. An extension to the game "Nice Day for Fishing" will be presented, which makes it possible to perceive the game world with the sense of smell. Last year, 19,700 people visited Caggtus.
