Thousands of onlookers watched the traditional fleet parade of the Saxon Steamship Company in Dresden on May 1st. According to the company, eight passenger steamers and two motor ships took part in the formation trip on the Elbe to Pillnitz and back.
Sächsische Dampfschifffahrt claims to have the oldest and largest fleet of paddle steamers in the world. The tickets for a ride on the ships for the three-and-a-half-hour fleet parade were completely sold out. The formation cruise marks the start of the White Fleet's main season.
