German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) believes the perpetrators acted professionally in the drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Such hybrid threats must be prepared and carried out with a high degree of professionalism, he said during a press conference at the airport. This requires a high degree of technical expertise, including experience in handling explosives.
“None of this points to an amateurish approach. We are talking here about a professional hybrid threat scenario that we must continue to address,” said Dobrindt. All speculation regarding the type of explosive, the drone’s design, its origin, and the question of who is behind it is now part of the investigation. “Not all speculation on these matters is necessarily heading in the right direction; it could simply be completely wrong.” We must investigate all possibilities.
