Saxony wants to restructure its daycare centers - with clearer educational goals and mandatory examinations. At the same time, a sharp decline in the number of children is putting many facilities under pressure. What is planned and what challenges are the daycare centers facing? The answers at a glance:
What is planned in the new education and training plan?
The new "education and training plan" is a further development of the 2006 plan, which Saxony introduced as the basis for educational work in daycare facilities. The Ministry of Culture wants to use it to further advance early childhood education. For example, a mandatory examination for four-year-olds and a plan for more targeted support are planned.
In addition to suggestions for pedagogical practice, the ministry also includes a focus on child participation and a "reflective approach" to digital media. Binding educational goals and better transitions between facilities are intended to counteract the increasing problems among pre-school children, which include a lack of age-appropriate skills in German.
