A driver was killed in an accident near Schwepnitz (Bautzen district). According to police, his car crashed into a tree.
According to reports, the 64-year-old was traveling from Großgrabe toward Schwepnitz when, for reasons that remain unclear, he veered to the left off Federal Highway 97. The car reportedly crashed head-on into a tree. According to police, the man was trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene of the accident.
Initial estimates put the property damage at around 7,000 euros. The B97 was completely closed for several hours. The traffic accident investigation unit is investigating the cause of the accident.
