Five Saxon companies have been honored with the Saxon Milestone Award for their successful generational transition. This year, the award goes to three women and three men who have particularly successfully taken over a company, according to the Bürgschaftsbank Sachsen. In total, the awards come with prize money totaling 19,000 euros and will be presented in 2026 to companies in the skilled trades, industry, and the restaurant industry. The award-winning businesses are based in the Leipzig region, the Zwickau district, the Erzgebirge district, and the Bautzen district, according to the Bürgschaftsbank. Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Dirk Panter (SPD), emphasized that the inspiring stories highlighted by the “Sächsischer Meilenstein” initiative offer guidance to entrepreneurs and potential successors. “And that is exactly what we need right now, because demographic trends are changing the entrepreneurial landscape. That is why early and strategic business succession remains a central task of our economic policy.” Every successful succession secures jobs and prosperity in Saxony, the minister added. Since 2011, Bürgschaftsbank Sachsen has been honoring successful generational transitions in small and medium-sized enterprises across all industries with the Saxon Milestone award. This year, 76 companies applied for the award. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
