Bus and train passengers in the Central Saxony Transport Association (VMS) will have to pay more from next spring. Prices are set to rise by an average of 2.4 percent from April 1, 2026, as announced by the VMS. The reason for this is the transport companies' higher costs for personnel and materials. Part of this will now be passed on to passengers.
A single journey in a VMS fare zone will therefore cost 10 cents more in future, or 3.30 euros. "This is a comparatively moderate cost adjustment for our passengers," said VMS Managing Director Mathias Korda according to the press release. The VMS covers the districts of Zwickau, Central Saxony and Erzgebirge as well as the cities of Chemnitz and Zwickau.
