A damaged overhead line is causing considerable disruption to long-distance services on the ICE high-speed line between Erfurt and Leipzig/Halle on Monday. According to a Deutsche Bahn spokeswoman, part of the overhead line is hanging down in the Saubachtal area. The line has since been restored to a single track. Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) had previously reported this.
Technicians are on site and have begun repair work. According to the information, this is expected to be completed during the course of the night. The line had previously been completely closed in the morning.
Long-distance trains are currently being partially rerouted - via Naumburg and Großkorbetha as well as via Sangerhausen and Sömmerda. Passengers must continue to expect delays and there may also be occasional train cancellations. The railroad asked passengers to check their connections shortly before departure and apologized for the inconvenience.
