The authorities are planning eight to ten months for the demolition of the western section of the dilapidated Agra Bridge on the Bundesstraße 2 south of Leipzig. This was announced by the State Office for Road Construction and Transport in Dresden. "A longer-term full closure of the B 2 is not expected to be necessary."
The plan is for the approximately 21-metre-long bridge spans to be cut into 10 to 15 individual concrete slabs using a special saw. These should then be lowered in a controlled manner, loaded and transported away.
