Photos of the event last weekend were sent to a private reporting center for UFO sightings, where the experts came to this conclusion, a police spokesman said on request. On Sunday afternoon, several people had independently reported a flying object to the police near Schöneck. The officers had then searched the area extensively with the support of the fire department, but found nothing and then stopped the search.
The UFO reporting center Cenap - the Central Research Network of Extraordinary Celestial Phenomena - to which the images of the sky from Sunday afternoon were sent, was already aware of the phenomenon seen in Vogtland, said the police spokesman. "Two planes were reportedly seen in the sky at the same time, one above the other. Their contrails were swirled around. The sunlight from below made it look like it was burning," he explained. Ultimately, it was an optical illusion.
