A large training campus for the chip industry is to be built in Dresden. The EU Commission has now promised 100 million euros for the construction of the new vocational school center (BSZ) for electrical engineering in the state capital. This was announced by the Ministry of Economics and the Ministry of Education. This is intended to cover a large part of the total costs of 136.2 million euros.
"The new BSZ will be a real beacon with which we want to attract trainees from all over Germany and our neighboring countries to Saxony," said Economics Minister Dirk Panter (SPD). It will ensure that "Silicon Saxony" - the Saxon semiconductor center in Dresden and the surrounding area - can continue to grow.
According to earlier information, up to 2,200 pupils will be taught there. Commissioning was planned for the start of the 2028/2029 school year.
