Martín Demichelis doesn’t want to be blinded by the 6-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Ahead of RB Leipzig’s home opener in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven this Tuesday (9:00 p.m./DAZN), the head coach expects a different caliber of opponent. “Both teams have the same goals. PSV plays very attractive soccer—the same philosophy as we do. We’re coming off a good performance and need to build on it with plenty of energy and conviction,” said Demichelis. “Both teams want to play an active game and apply pressure early on.” After a disastrous Champions League opener against Como (1–4), RB is under pressure against the team led by former Bundesliga coach Peter Bosz. The Dutch side did manage to pick up a point in their opener against Shakhtar Donetsk. “We’re taking it one step at a time. Our focus is solely on the next task and on securing the three points,” said the Argentine. RB goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt, who has kept a clean sheet in all three Bundesliga home games so far, said: “We love playing at home in front of our fans, and we need their support, too. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow and the atmosphere in the stadium.” Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reservedDemichelis: “We’re taking it one step at a time”
