Dynamo Dresden will kick off the new 2. Bundesliga season with an away game. On August 8 or 9, the Saxons will face 1. FC Nürnberg. This is according to the schedule published by the Bundesliga (formerly the DFL).
Their first home game, scheduled for between August 14 and 16, will be against Darmstadt 98. This match could take place in front of an empty K-Block. Following a ruling by the DFB Sports Court regarding the riots during the match against Hertha BSC, Dresden is still embroiled in a legal dispute with the German Football Association (DFB).
Coach Thomas Stamm’s team will face the Berliners in front of a home crowd on Matchday 6 (September 18–20). The other two Eastern German derbies—against 1. FC Magdeburg (October 16–18) and against promoted team Energie Cottbus (December 11–13)—will also be played in Dresden during the first half of the season. The first half of the season will conclude between January 15 and 17 with a match against relegated VfL Wolfsburg, also in Dresden.
